I was up early this morning with my better half. She is teaching a Precept class today and got up in plenty of time to review and make sure she was prepared. She was.
First let’s get to the eyes. No, they are not any better this morning than yesterday even though I used the prescription drops twice yesterday and once this morning. I may be expecting a miracle cure too fast but I'm really tired of the pain and not being able to get any relief. If I had know that routine cataract surgery was going to be so complicated I probably would have put it off for a long time. Not wearing glasses is nice though and I love my $5.00 polarized shades from Wal-Mart.
I'm still shocked at the cost of the eye drops though. I think the pharmacist said that my insurance paid $146.00 and I still had to pay $60.00 for a thirty-day supply with 60 more prescription refills. Is she serious? $60/month from now on! No wonder they advertise this drug on TV like crazy. If I had something this expensive that folks apparently needed I would be pushing it non-stop too. Will the new health care bring down this cost? I don’t think so.
After another cup of coffee I got ready and went into the hospital for some OJT with Jennifer. She is so nice and I appreciate her taking the time to work with me. I’m so hard headed and obstinate when it involves things the computer should be doing. When we have to do work that the porgram should be doing I’m really hard pressed to get too enthused. However, since it is my job I will try to get with the program and figure it out. It just seems ridiculous that we have to spend our time to do something that could be handled so easily by a good programmer. Enough said.
Clark Howard mentioned yesterday that the president has slapped some sort of tariff on tires coming in from China and that tire prices could increase by 30%. He suggested that if you needed tires in the next six months you should consider buying them now before the price increase. Therefore, I’m looking for four tires for the Jeep. Boy, are big tires expensive! According to the reviews on the web the Firestone tire for the Jeep is the best riding and has the best grip of any. Firestone does have a special that would apply to my tires that will allow me to by three and get the fourth one free. Even with the free tire the cost is nearly $500 for four tires plus the road hazard. It doesn’t include mounting and balancing which I will. So, I’m still looking for a take off set or a used set.
I’m still reading one of the Janet Evanovich books Chris loaned me even though my eyes don’t like it. The humor kind of takes away some of the pain. Some scenes are so outrageous that I find myself laughing out loud at times. Eventually the pain gets the best of me and I finally have to shut down.
Later…
