Will this rain ever stop! It hasn’t let up for days and it looks like it will rain all day. Dar has left on her rounds to several stores and the credit union. Yesterday she and John repaired the closet at her Mom’s and today she took several bags of clothes to Good Will. Her Mom has so many things that either didn’t fit or were so out of style that she didn’t have room for the clothes that did fit. Plus they weighed so much they pulled down some of the shelving. John was not sympathetic. It was not a pretty scene trying to get her to part with the junk. This is a start but we need to work on a lot more stuff.
Darlene got some ribs for the Georgia game and left to get Sarah. I took the ribs out to heat and discovered mold on the back side. Now it is getting close to game time so I quickly headed out to the store to swap them. This was not a good trip in many ways. While trying to get the Jeep from behind the house I clipped the trailer hitch on an old trailer and put a nice dent in the grill. I had to get a ding eventually but this is probably one of the few dents I’ve ever put in a vehicle and it was upsetting. I may be able to pull it out without it being too noticeable but it still makes me mad to think that if the ribs had been okay this wouldn’t have happened. My mistake though and can’t blame the store. Anyway, when I got to the store it took quite a while waiting for some very slow customers before I could even ask where the ribs would be. Then they didn’t have any so now I had to go to the customer service and get my money back. Some guy in one of those electric carts was trying to get a rain check for two items but apparently the clerk was on a personal phone call and not paying attention. When he did get to the customer he was rewarded with a very sarcastic dissertation on how the guy didn’t want to interrupt the clerk’s personal call. Apparently this upset the clerk and he decided to take extra time filling out the form and this caused the rest of us to wait in line for about six minutes before he decided he had waited long enough. There was a guy in front of me with some groceries plus he wanted a few tobacco products. It took a while for the clerk to get the exact flavor for the customer then it took for ever for the customer to get all the personal numbers put in and his card swiped. Of course the transaction didn’t go through the first time because he failed to press the proper button before starting and he had to go through the whole process again. I kept my cool and eventually got my money back and headed to another store in search of cooked ribs. The next store didn’t have any either. Actually they had some but they were so outrageously priced I decided to get a bag of wings and eventually headed home. All the time I thought the game was starting at 7PM and I would miss the kickoff but luckily the game didn’t start until 7:45 and I made it home in plenty of time. John and Sarah were already there and Darlene was putting together a tray of dip and chips. I made the cheese dip with the Ro Tel and put the wings in the oven. I was able to do all in time to see the start of the game.
The game was a high scoring fiasco and eventually flopped in our favor in the end and we did beat the Arkansas Razorback. Both teams seemed to have their way on offence with special teams helping out. We were just darn lucky to win.
