Tuesday Sept. 14, 3009

Day two and I have no clue why I'm writing this blog except that maybe one day I can look back and remember what was happening then.

Yesterday was a difficult day with my eyes. I called the doctor and she wants me to try some prescription medications (Restasis and Muro 128) to see if they will help and also to schedule a second opinion. They have made an appointment for me in November with the Emory Eye group. That said, I went by my local CVS three hours after my phone call with the office and they still had not called in the Rx. It was another night of irritated hurting eyes. I guess I could have gone back later in the evening to the pharmacy but I had a few drinks and didn't want to risk my safety or anyone else although I felt like I was okay. That's always the case.

Last night I tried to read some in the book Chris loaned me when we were on the island. It was difficult but I pushed through the pain and read a few chapters before I finally had to give in and shut down.

This morning my eyes were still killing me and only after my cheap .97 cent Wal-Mart eye drops did I get some relief. Later this morning I'll head to CVS and get my meds. I hate taking any kind of meds on a permanent basis!

Next, I want to figure out how to decrease my blood pressure. Yesterday while at CVS I used their BP machine and discovered mine was slightly elevated or more precisely close to the high limits. Looks like I'll have to start watching my diet and start exercising more. Did I mention that I really dislike exercising? Walking and working of the island is the exception. With the sun and fresh air that's not difficult.

My better half is working the day shift at the hospital today and I may go in later on this afternoon to get some OJT from our head secretary.

This morning I received an email from a friend about the new health care proposed bill and had to see it for myself. Boy, is it a lot of double talk and confusing references. Almost each paragraph references another one and you could spend several days just chasing rabbits. If you haven't done so, you need to check it out for yourself. There is no way this bill won't put this country in to bankruptcy and give the government way too much power over our daily health. My vote is to improve the system we have and not saddle our grand kids with this.

A friend sent me a preliminary movie script to review. The style of writing for a movie script is difficult to follow since it injects all the scenes along with background music. When you try to conjure up the scene there may be a one line dialog and immediately the scene changes and you are trying to visualize a completely different setting. This constant changing plus the difficult dialog made it difficult to follow. I think I got the gist of the script but it was difficult.

Now it looks like the cell phone radiation controversy is back in the news along with MRSA in the beach sand off the coast of California. Along with the swine flu scare it appears we really need some sort of government health care intervention to protect us Americans. Not!

Rain is forecast for today so it may be a slow day.
